Antonio Cid Menchen is a master potter with thirty years of experience. In 1980 he founded Casa Tafuriaste, the studio where he began producing a huge variety of ceramics.
Antonio has used many different techniques over the years. In the early days he started to work with single fired glazes. Later, for many years he produced black pottery, stoneware and more recently he has been creating pieces with volcanic sand slips.
In 1989 Antonio opened the Museo de Cerámica Casa Tafuriaste, complementing perfectly the existing studio. The Museum housed a large collection of ancient, traditional Spanish ceramics used historically in the daily tasks throughout the towns and villages.
In his studio Antonio has mentored several potters who have gone on to open their own businesses. Most recently he has enjoyed producing works of distinct personal interest mainly using Raku and lustre pottery.
